Overview:
This research investigates data placement and retrieval scheduling in multiple disk systems as well as network traffic scheduling. For disk systems, we investigate ways to maximise I/O parallelism in a multiple disk system. It aims to improve performance in solving I/O bound problems that use multiple disks. Strategies to be investigated include disk scheduling, pre-fetching, data placement methods and algorithms.
