Job Description

Positions are available in the Parallel and Distributed Computing Centre (PDCC) at Nanyang Technological University. We are looking for one Research Fellow and one Research Associate or Project Officer to work on an A*STAR funded project “Software Optimization of High Performance Computing Code for Heterogeneous Multicore Platforms”.

The goal of the project is to derive a unified software framework that targets high performance scientific code for current and emerging heterogeneous multicore processors to achieve the following:

  • Performs performance diagnosis on the applications, including modeling the performance, and identifying the performance bottlenecks;
  • Guides semi-automatic refactoring of the applications into a componentized form that is amenable to heterogeneous multicore execution;
  • Statically tunes the code generation so as to achieve the best results for the given platform;
  • Dynamically tunes the application during its execution so as to optimally fit the dynamic nature of the application to the available resources of the platform.

The project will develop innovative tools and techniques for enabling the above objectives. As case studies, we will focus on two application areas:

  • Agent-based modeling of infectious diseases
  • Modeling of fluid flow in cell migration

This project is in collaboration with National University of Singapore and Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC). Together with a team of other research staff and students, the successful candidates will carry out research and development to help achieve the objectives stated above.

Requirements

  • PhD / Masters / Bachelors in Computer Science / Engineering or related fields
